The Miz is backstage with Alex Riley and Josh Matthews. Miz says there is a reason why he’s a champion, and people like Jerry Lawler and Tom Brady aren’t. Riley says Miz will outclass and outwrestle Orton tonight, and go to WrestleMania as Champion. Miz repeats his catchphrase, letting us all know who he is, and what he thinks of himself.
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
- The Miz (c) w/Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton
We get a video package highlighting the history between these two men that has led up to this match.
Randy Orton is the first man to make his way out to the ring, and the announcers play up Orton’s insistence that he’s not looking to be a fan favorite, despite the MONSTER pop he’s getting from the crowd. The Miz is out next, with Alex Riley in tow of course. Miz gets a healthy amount of boos from the crowd while Michael Cole takes the opportunity to give Miz a standing ovation. After formal ring introductions from Justin Roberts, we’re ready to begin.
The bell rings, and Orton and the Miz begin circling before the Miz tries for a quick punch. Orton avoids it and comes up with a right hand, European uppercut, and a series of right hands in the corner before simply tossing the Miz to the outside.
Orton follows and he slams Miz from one barricade into another before rolling him back into the ring for a two count. Orton stomps Miz’s forehead before picking him up by the arm and laying in with a couple of nasty kicks. Orton continues to stomp at Miz’s chest before picking him up by the legs and slingshotting him into the bottom rope, throat first. Orton goes for another pin but he only gets two. Orton catches Miz with a nasty uppercut in the corner, but when he charges Miz he eats an elbow, only to come back with another series of big right hands before being pulled off by the referee. Orton chokes Miz on the middle rope before continuing the beating.
Riley is able to catch Orton by surprise, bringing him down throat first across the top rope while the ref is distracted, and this allows Miz to sneak in a bit of offense. Miz goes to slam Orton’s head into the turnbuckle only to have it turned around on him. Orton his a big clothesline, but when he charges Miz in the corner Miz is able to make his way out, and Orton crashes into the corner. Miz is able to hit his corner clothesline and it’s good for a two count. Miz chokes Orton on the second rope, and Riley uses another distraction to sneak in a right hand. Miz goes for a pin but he’s only able to get a two count. Miz is able to lock in a rear chin lock, but Orton quickly fights up to his feet and out of the hold. Orton scores a good head butt, but Miz catches Orton with a knee to the gut.
Miz catches Orton with a big right hand and a boot to the gut, but Orton gets back to his feet and comes up with a couple of rights of his own, only to fall victim to a high elbow for a one count. Miz distracts the ref again, but the ref catches Riley before he’s able to do anything. Miz goes to the outside and beats on Orton for a little bit before kicking up into Orton’s face, square in the nose.
Back in the ring Miz locks in another rear chin lock, and even though Orton fights up to his feet he quickly falls back down. Orton fights up again and he lays a couple of elbows into Miz’s gut before turnings things around with a sleeper. Miz fights out of it, but Orton blocks a suplex and takes Miz down. Both men are slow to get up, and when they do Miz hits a big boot to Orton’s face that’s good for another near fall. Miz goes to the apron and climbs the ropes but Orton catches, and stops him. Orton hits Miz with a big right hand before climbing up and hitting a big superplex.
Orton goes for the pin, but the Miz is able to kick out. Both men get back up to their feet and trade blows in the ring, neither giving ground until Orton kicks Miz square in the chest, hits a couple of clotheslines, and his signature backbreaker. Orton goes for the rope assisted DDT, but Miz is able to suplex Orton over the ropes to the outside instead. Miz distracts the ref while Riley attacks Orton.
Miz goes to the outside where he rams Orton back first into the barricade, then the ring apron, before rolling Orton back into the ring and going for the cover, only to get a two count. Miz goes back up to the top rope, and leaps off with a double axe handle smash that’s good for another near fall on Orton. Miz goes for another pin, and gets another two count, before mounting Orton, kicking him a couple of times, and going for another pin, getting another two count. Miz locks in a mounted reverse chin lock, but Orton refuses to quit.
Orton fights up to his feet, but Miz quickly tosses him to the outside. Orton tries to go for something, but Miz catches him by the feet, and slingshots him head first into the ring post. Miz rolls back into the ring and the referee begins the count. Orton makes it back into the ring at 8, and he launches himself into the Miz with a Thesz press, a series of punches, and another series of punches when both men get to their feet. Miz is able to score a couple of punches of his own, but he walks into a couple of big clotheslines, and the snap powerslam. Orton stomps on Miz’s joints, wearing him down further with a big knee drop to the forehead that’s good for a two count.
Orton goes for a powerbomb, it looks like, but Riley is up on the apron to distract him. This allows Miz to hit the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo, but Orton kicks out of a pin attempt. Orton goes for the RKO, but Miz fights it off and tries for the SCF, Orton fights that off and hits what looks to be an Olympic slam for another two count. Miz goes to the outside and grabs the title, attempting to leave, but he’s stopped cold by an Orton clothesline. Orton sends Miz back into the ring, but when he follows, he’s met with a low angle DDT that sets up another near fall.
Miz goes for a kick, but Orton is able to avoid it and roll him up for a quick two count. Miz goes to the apron and Orton scores with his rope assisted DDT. Orton begins stalking Miz, setting up for the RKO, but the New Nexus make their way out to the ring. The ref attempts to stop them, and this allows Riley to sneak in. Orton kicks Riley in the gut, and launches him out of the ring, over the ref, and into Nexus. Orton hits the RKO on Miz, but Punk is in the ring and he hits a GTS on Orton, before dragging Miz over top of Orton. The ref recovers and counts the three.
WINNER & STILL WWE CHAMPION: The Miz

Cena’s music and he comes out to start the show. He grabs a mic and waits for the music and video package. Video of Cena being disassembled by the New Nexus three weeks ago. Cena’s hot! He says that was three weeks ago, last year! This is his first time in the ring in 2011 and he’s ready. He has his list of resolutions.
It’s Miz’s music. He and Riley, in dapper suits and ties. Miz asks, really, he’s going to win back the WWE Championship at WM? Really? Really? Really? He thinks it’s safe to say, nobody wants that. Cena’s played out. Miz is the must see Champ in WWE, more so than Cena. Since Miz won, RAW’s been more exciting than it’s been in years. And he hates to break it to Cena – as Miz and Riley climb into the ring – but the odds are against Cena winning the Royal Rumble. “Cena!” chants. Miz says for the first time ever the Royal Rumble has 40 participants. It’s the biggest Rumble ever in the WWE. The winner gets to decide who they’ll face in the main event at WM. He suggests to whoever wins the Royal Rumble, don’t go after Miz.
HUGE “Cena” chants. If Cena does come after him, he’ll have the same fate as Orton in two weeks, Cena will lose! Cena mocks Miz and says if Cena can change, Miz can change and everybody can change. That Title he has, it should have changed twice already. If not for Cole, Lawler should be Champion! The fans love this. And if not for Riley, Orton should be Champ! Cena says they’re must see? They look like a more feminine version of the Kardashian sisters. Riley is a chicken McNugget who carries a choo-choo train in a briefcase. Cole has the street cred of the JoBros. Miz, the only challenge bout he’s had in six months is with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). That means Miz’s body makes poopie noises. It’s PG, he’s doing the best that he can! The only thing he must see about the WWE Champ is him actually have a match! Miz fled leaving Riley to get pinned by King! Big props to Jerry, the only person in this group who actually wants to fight somebody! “Jerry!” chants fill the arena.
Miz tells Cena he’s corny! He’s so sick of the label that Miz is afraid to fight. It’s lame and generic, just like Cena. There’s no doubt that he can fight with the best brawlers in WWE history. Miz knows it, Cena knows it and the whole WWE Universe knows it! There is no doubt that Miz can out wrestle the so-called greatest technicians in WWE history. The entire WWE Universe knows it. Because he’s the Miz and he’s – he will finish that sentence when he beats Orton.

We get another e-mail and Cole quotes. Michael Cole is not a coward and neither is Jerry Lawler. Even if his body isn’t fully healed, he knows that Lawler wants revenge. Miz and Alex Riley will face Jerry Lawler and Randy Orton.
We are back and Miz is in the back and Alex Riley says that opportunity kicked in the door tonight because they get to face Jerry Lawler and Randy Orton at the same time. Miz says that in two weeks, he assaulted a Hall of Famer and defeated John Morrison in a match that should be talked about for years. But all people talk about is Randy Orton getting the number one contender spot. People should be talking about him, not Randy Orton. People are saying that Randy Orton will win the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. Miz says that nobody is giving him respect that he deserves. He wants to demoralize and embarrass Lawler and Orton tonight. He wants to show that he will be WWE Champion for a long time. Riley interrupts and starts to use the Miz’s catchphrase but Miz cuts him off and says that catchphrases are for closers and he will say it when he wins tonight.
Match Number Four: Miz and Alex Riley versus Randy Orton and Jerry Lawler

They go to the floor and Lawler sends Miz into the announce table while Miz’s cheerleader tries to encourage him. Lawler sends Miz into the apron and ring steps. Miz with a thumb to the eyes and he tags in Riley but Lawler with a back body drop and Orton tags in.
Orton with a kick to Riley and then he connects with European uppercuts and punches. Orton kicks Riley in the corner and then Riley with a kick and he tags in Miz. Orton with a clothesline to Miz and then he stomps on Miz’s head. Orton with another boot to the head and then he does the same to the solar plexus. Lawler tags back in and he punches Miz. The referee warns Lawler and Miz with a boot to the head. Miz punches Lawler in the head and the referee pulls Miz off Lawler. Miz with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.

We go to commercial.
We are back and Riley has Lawler in an arm bar but Lawler with punches. Riley misses a charge into the corner and he hits the post. Lawler goes to the wrong corner but he punches Riley. Miz distracts the referee and he disallows the tag. The referee did not see Miz make the tag but he is allowed in. Miz tries for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Orton hits an RKO. Riley makes the save and then Riley tags in. Orton tags in and Orton with clotheslines and a power slam. Orton with a back breaker to Riley and then he sees Riley on the apron. Orton with a kick and the IEDDT. Orton twists into the RKO push ups and Miz waits to pounce. Orton sees Miz trying to enter the ring. Riley comes up behind Orton but Orton with an RKO to Riley. Orton hisses at Miz and Miz stays on the apron. Orton tags Lawler back in and Lawler goes to the turnbuckles as the strap comes down and Lawler with the fist drop for the three count.

WWE.com’s newest exclusive feature “Eleven to watch in 2011″ has highlighted upcoming stars for 2011. One of them is our very own Varsity Villain, Alex Riley. He’s number 8. Well, I think he should be ranked higher but the fact that he’s listed is awesome though. We all know that 2011 is going to be an amazing year for Alex.
A self proclaimed “Varsity Villain”, Alex Riley utterly bullied the competition during the second season of WWE NXT, finishing third under the tutelage of The Miz. But just like his WWE Pro-turned-full-time-mentor – who captured the WWE Championship late last year – this so called “rare breed’s” bite is just as vicious as his bark. It’s only a matter of time before this apprentice steps out of The Awesome One’s shadow and signs his own WWE contract.
