Thanks to Emily who has donated a few captures of Alex’s appearance on UK’s morning show Daybreak to our website. The Miz and Alex Riley made an appearance on there back in November, but we never were able to do captures because the video is only available in the UK.

That being said, if you’re a fan of Alex Riley and The Miz, and also use Tumblr to share pictures with other fans, make sure to follow Emily’s blog dedicated to the team of Alex and The Miz by clicking here.

Bleacherreport.com published a new article yesterday after WWE confirmed that NXT Season 2 winner, Kaval (real name Brandon Silvestry) got fired. It’s an interesting read.

NXT Season 2 winner Kaval was the latest Smackdown babyface to get the ax by the WWE today. This comes as no surprise since Kaval was constantly jobbing to various superstars during his brief stay in the World Wrestling Federation.

According to various sources, WWE Creative wanted The Miz’s lackey, Alex Riley, to win Season 2 of NXT. His over-the-top personality impressed Vince McMahon. The “Varsity Villain” also helped his mentor be the current WWE Champion, not to mention the heat he gets and the so-called “it” factor.

On the other hand, McMahon was reportedly not very high on the Brooklyn, New York native. Kaval lacked the charisma that was necessary to make it big in the WWE. NXT Season 1 winner Wade Barrett had the charisma and mic skills to be a bonafide superstar. Kaval, however, was bland and stale.

So, here’s to Alex Riley, the real winner of NXT Season 2 (In my opinion, anyway).

This post TLC RAW starts with Justin announcing Miz as still our WWE Champion. Miz out looking rather disheveled. His tie loosened, shirt almost completely un-tucked. He gets heat from the fans. Miz said he doesn’t think they heard him correctly as still WWE Champion, The Miz! Get used to it! Doesn’t it have a nice ring to it? Still WWE Champion, The Miz. He knows they were all expecting something else. “You suck!” chants. They were expecting ‘the new WWE Champion, Randy Orton!” But that didn’t happen, did it?

Eerie music and Riley comes out as the Ghost of Christmas Past. He’s here to show Miz the error of his ways. His first Title defense. Video of Miz beating King in the Ladder Match. Miz asks about the error of his ways? He’s proud of what he did. He beat a WWE HOFer and made sure he’ll never become Champion. He doesn’t regret any of his actions of the past. He actually believes that the -

More eerie music and out comes Cole as Ghost of Christmas Present. He tells Miz that he needs to change. His actions against Orton last night, although ‘vintage’, were extremely unacceptable. Punk says this is the best start to a RAW he’s ever see! King didn’t understand that! Miz retained his Championship through nefarious means. Miz should be ashamed, should be ashamed! Miz says that’s where he’s wrong. The actions of a true Champion are defined in one sentence and one sentence only. Are they still WWE Champion after the match? Yes, he is. Orton underestimated Miz and Miz beat him. He has something for Orton, an image for Orton to put on his Christmas cards. Miz holds his belt high and says, Happy Holidays from the Miz!

More eerie music and the ‘evil Miz girl’ shows up on the tron, well, her picture does. Someone’s dubbed her mouth to move so she says – Miz, Miz, I am the Ghost of Christmas Future and she’s very angry. He has to see the light and change his ways or JoMo will beat you! Beat you I say! The fans popped at JoMo’s name. Miz says he’s the future, the face of this company, the most must see Champion because he’s the Miz and he’s awesome!

JoMo’s music hits. Miz isn’t impressed, but JoMo struts out, without a limp. Punk says JoMo ruined his night, he was enjoying that. JoMo says he’s surprised, that was stupid! Even for Miz. He’s happy for Miz’s success because he beat Sheamus last night. He beat Sheamus, climbed the ladder and got the contract. That means sometime soon they’ll fight for that Title. He has news for Miz – he’s beat him in the past, beat him in the present and will beat Miz in the future. When he does, JoMo will become the new WWE Champion! Miz asks, really? Really? Really? Really? Really? Miz says he begs to differ, he’s always been better than him. JoMo right up in Miz’s face, but Riley cut in. Pushing and JoMo is pushed off by Riley. A blow to Riley, then Miz fled. JoMo unloads on Riley, then Sheamus runs out! JoMo in control until Sheamus goes after that knee. JoMo down in the ring.

Out at announce something happened and King clocked Riley, dropped him with one punch! King, all smiles. Riley screeches as he leaves with Miz. Ding-Ding! Cole calls for attention and gets huge heat! And I quote, “Miz, tonight you will collide with your ghosts from past, present and future in a Six Man Tag Team Match. You, Alex Riley and King Sheamus versus JoMo, Jerry Lawler and Randy Orton!” Miz started screaming on the stage, totally pissed! Suddenly Orton’s there and chest blocks Miz to the floor! Miz holds the back of his head as if he hit it when he hit the floor.

BACKSTAGE: Josh Matthews interviewed The Miz backstage. He said with Morrison winning the previous match, “it begs the question” of whether Miz or Orton will be champion when he gets his title shot. Miz had Alex Riley bring him his title belt in the Money in the Bank briefcase. He said everyone is saying he took advantage of an injured Orton. He asks how much he has to do to earn respect around WWE. He listed his recent wins and said tonight he will kill the legend of Orton. He got intense and then implored everyone to see the new face of WWE because he is The Miz and he is awesome.

THE MIZ (w/ Alex Riley) vs. RANDY ORTON

The only good reason I can think of right off to feature Miz’s first WWE Title defense on PPV this early on the card is because he’s winning, and Rey or Edge are winning the World Title, and they want to end on a high note. One of the two major singles titles should almost always headline the PPV, with the Royal Rumble being a rare exception. This demeans Miz, though, as he’s trying to gain traction as a main eventer to have him this early in the show defending his title. Striker said he’s known Miz since he arrived in WWE and he wasn’t well-liked at the beginning and still isn’t. Cole defended Miz’s method of winning the WWE Title with the MITB stip, saying anyone else would have and other have used that method to cash in and win. Orton stared at Miz during ring intros like he was going to destroy him, a bit like Anderson Silva’s demeanor before he defends his title.

The bell rang at 8:21 to start this. Orton aggressively beat on Miz in the opening minute. Miz avoided a charge in the corner and took over the offensive. Cole made his case that Miz should be Superstar of the Year. Orton beat up Miz at ringside for a couple minutes. When he tried to slide a folded ladder into the ring, Miz kicked the ladder into Orton. They tried to slam each other onto the ladder. Miz knocked Orton backward by ramming him with the base of the ringside steps. Miz lay a limp Orton onto a table at ringside, but the table collapsed. Lawler gave Miz a hard time for not setting up the table right. They returned to inside the ring at 6:00. Miz clotheslined Orton in the corner and then set up a table in the corner. Orton countered and then set up Miz for a superplex onto a table, but Riley moved the ladder out of the path. Striker said there are no DQs in a ladder match, which is absurd because if that’s the case, Riley might as well just join in and make it a two-on-one match from the start and use chairs and ladders, too. I mean, no DQ either means no DQ or it doesn’t.

Orton snap-powerslammed Miz at 9:00. Miz rolled to the ring apron. Orton kicked him and then DDT’d him off the second rope. At ringside Orton clotheslined Riley when Riley charged at him. He then slide a table into the ring. Orton gave Miz a backbreaker in the ring and then pounded the mat. Orton waited for Miz to stand, then set up a powerbomb. Riley distracted Orton. Miz got up and set up the Skull Crushing Finale. Orton powered out, but the ref got knocked over. Orton then gave an interfering Riley an RKO. With the ref and Miz down at ringside and Riley down in the ring, Orton surveyed the situation. He picked up Riley and gave him a powerbomb through a table. Miz then gave Orton a Skull Crushing Finale from behind at 12:00. Miz then rolled Riley out of the way and lay Orton over the broken table. he then revived the ref at ringside and showed him Orton. The ref then called for the bell and awarded Miz the win. Cole declared, “That was awesome!” He praised Miz for taking advantage of the circumstances. He said champions find a way to win.

The ref saw the replay and called for the match to restart as Miz was celebrating at ringside. Orton went after Miz at ringside aggressively. Cole said it was ridiculous, but Lawler said justice was prevailing. Orton threw Miz into the ring. As he tried to climb into the ring, Miz shoved Riley into Orton, knocking him off the ring apron through a table for the official win.

WINNER: Miz in 14:00 to retain the WWE Title.

John Cena, Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton def. WWE Champion The Miz (with Alex Riley), Alberto Del Rio & Wade Barrett

John Cena has always had a special bond with the troops, so the Legendary star was even more charged than usual going into tonight’s huge main event. Forming a veritable dream team with Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton, Cena made sure that the crew of The Miz, Alberto Del Rio & Wade Barrett received a beating that would make the military proud. Working together like a tactical squad, The Viper and Cena set up Del Rio and Barrett for a double dose of Mysterio’s 619 before simultaneously nailing an RKO and an Attitude Adjustment on their hapless opponents for the win.

Following the victory, the Massachusetts native grabbed the microphone and delivered some heartfelt words to the soldiers he respects so much, bringing an emotional end to the most patriotic show of the year.

Backstage: Jack Korpela brought in Smackdown’s “special guest” tonight, WWE champion The Miz. Alex Riley accompanied Miz, apparently just as “guest.” Miz wanted to know why he’s here on Smackdown. He said he already beat Rey on Raw. Miz said the real reason he’s here is because he’s in-demand all day, every day. Monday – Rey on Raw. Tuesday – media all day. Wednesday – Jimmy Fallon and guest at the Knicks game. Thursday – VIP at the hottest club in NYC. Friday – Smackdown. Saturday – Tribute to the Troops. Sunday – Riley interrupted: “And a partridge in pear tree!” Miz looked him down, then vowed to put Orton through a table at the PPV on Sunday. Miz said he is the present, future, and he’s awesome.

WWE champion THE MIZ (w/ Alex Riley) vs. REY MYSTERIO — non-title match

Nice feeling-out process to start, then Rey clobbered Miz in the corner with a cannonball splash. Miz wanted a top rope moonsault, but Miz crotched him and began working on the left leg/ankle. Riley landed a cheap shot on Rey behind the ref’s back as Cole reset the events tonight with a four-way (or three-way) World Title match booked for TLC in Houston. On the Raw side, Cole noted Miz has an opportunity to validate his “advantageous” WWE Title victory via Money in the Bank cash-in with a victory over Orton at the PPV. That was a good point brought up by a caller on the Livecast today, which WWE really could have reinforced on Raw leading to the PPV. Before cutting to break, Mysterio took out Riley on the outside with a running sentaun from the ring apron.

Back from break, WWE had a very shaky hard camera as Miz and Rey traded control center-ring with the crowd hot for the exchange. Miz landed a turnaround cross-body splash off the ropes, which was good for a two count. Miz then cut off Rey yet again by ramming him into the turnbuckles. Miz wanted a top-rope move, but Rey cut him off. Back and forth action here.
